Hair and Makeup Advice for Prom Needed?

It's my senior year, so I want to look great for my last prom. My hair is to the top of my boobs for lack of a better description, straight, and light brown/dirty blonde. It's also thin and flat, so I was planning on getting my hair professionally curled and put up in an updo. But, when I tried my dress on again I put my hair up to see what it looked like, and it actually looked better down with the dress for some reason. I'm just afraid that will be too boring and un-formal for prom. I'm wondering if I should even make a hair appointment if I'm not really doing anything to it, but I was thinking maybe the hairdresser could make it have more volume or something. Anyone have suggestions? Oh and curling it and leaving it down is not an option because it won't stay. For makeup I have yellow undertoned skin and hazel eyes. Here's the dress (the red one):

Well, you can get your hair professionally curled and leave it down at the prom. And have you thought about dyeing your hair? Maybe ask you mom what you think is best. But it's totally up to you.
